What you really need is here! (Anonymous on 2016-04-04)

I was told I needed a driver update. My printer works just fine as it is. Driver Support said I have 11 problems and wanted $50.00. I've learned the hard way not to do that. So thank you for checking this out even though you tell me there is no "official driver for our OS" and Autodetect failed. I driver a 1999 Acura with 55,000 miles in perfect condition. I suppose I would get some diverse comment about it. (Rose Epstein on 2016-04-04)

Autodetect failed

There is no official driver for your OS.

Installation & troubleshooting notes

  1. Check the manufacturer name and the model of your printer (you can find both in the back side of the printer).
  2. Check the name of your operating system
  3. Download and run the driver file.
  4. Once the installation process is completed, you’ll see the “setup completed” or similar message.

Now, you can start printing the documents, but before you can verify the installation. Just, go to the Control panel >> devices >> printers >> your printer properties >> print test page.

Some drivers don’t start after installation. If your printer is supposed to be connected through a wireless connection using Ethernet cables, the process of troubleshooting will be the following:

  1. ensure that everything is on and connected,
  2. go into your word processor of choice,
  3. try to print out a test page to see if it actually is working.
  4. if nothing happens, it's time to go through some restarts. Restart all of your network devices, turn off your computer, turn off and unplug your printer, wait a few minutes, and start from scratch.
